My criteria for a Good Smoothie: (1) contains veggies (otherwise it's too much like dessert); (2) contains a bunch of protein, which will keep you sated for longer. Bonus points if it includes some live probiotics, e.g. yogurt.
I enojoy this smoothie every morning at breakfast alongside scrambled eggs and toast. If you want to skip the eggs and opt for a liquid breakfast, use a 1.5-2x version of this recipe.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup raw kale
- 2 chunks (about 1/4 cup) frozen pureed butternut squash
- 1/4 frozen banana
- 1 tsp raw honey
- 1/2 scoop plain protein powder
- 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 cup original unsweetened almond milk (optional)
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- cold water, as needed
Instructions:
- Add everything to the blender of your choice and blend. If too thick, add cold water to taste.
